Boris Savchenko wins Moscow Open

The top group of the Moscow Open chess festival was won by Boris Savchenko. In the final round the Russian grandmaster kept his head cool in a highly complex with his compatriot Pavel Ponkratov, where both sides made mistakes while playing for a win. Savchenko emerged as the winner and became the only player to finish on 7.5 points, half a point above the rest of the pack. The three remaining games in the leading group ended in a draw.
