While it can often get overlooked, the Women’s World Championship is still an important event. This year’s edition is match between the still rising star Hou Yifan and the current champion, Anna Ushenina of Ukraine. Hou Yifan was given a bit of a home-field advantage, as the match is taking place in Taizhou, China. Not that she likely needs it: she’s rated more than 100 points higher than the current champ, making her a significant favorite to take the title back (she was previously Women’s World Champion from 2010-2012).
